Boosting efficiency with Rodeo IoT

The Perfect Balance Between Custom and Off-the-Shelf Solutions for Manufacturing and Construction

Manufacturing and construction organizations looking to boost their operational efficiency might not have all the Internet of Things (IoT) expertise they need.

Up until now, operations teams would turn to one of these two options when planning an IoT project:

  • Custom design contracting with an external service provider: This process is costly and time-consuming. Often the client company doesn’t have enough technical knowledge to specify the project requirements properly. This leads to endless, unnecessary, and costly rounds of iterations.

  • Off-the-shelf solutions that might not do exactly what they need. The compromise needed to make these off-the-shelf products work often results in a “solution” that is no solution at all! If it doesn’t fit into the system properly or if it doesn’t meet your needs, the team won't buy in, and the implementation will fail.

The Rodeo IoT Platform is a happy medium between these options.

This versatile Rodeo data acquisition system is reinventing the way that IoT devices are designed and deployed. It is creating new possibilities for businesses as diverse as manufacturing, construction, energy, transportation, and agriculture.

The Rodeo platform encompasses the core components that are essential for collecting data from the shop floor and delivering it to the cloud. It brings unmatched flexibility and seamless integration into your existing systems, making it the natural solution for many businesses. Rodeo IoT can fulfill almost any need, from asset tracking to predictive maintenance and remote monitoring. This comprehensive toolkit helps businesses make informed, data-driven decisions, slashing downtime, and supercharging efficiency. The system scales effortlessly to meet your unique needs.

Our Rodeo IoT platform can be used to create or scale any custom solution that requires tracking or sensing, slashing development timelines significantly. And that is exactly what we did for our client, a steel manufacturing giant as in our case study below.

Case Study

A steel manufacturer we worked with discovered how flexible the Rodeo platform can be. This company, despite its operational maturity, was using a manual system for inventory and asset tracking. They were experiencing considerable mistakes and material losses between the manufacturing line and the job site.  Profitability and service quality suffered due to the poor control over materials and equipment.

The company needed a solution to reduce mistakes and improve their profitability, so they engaged Simply Embedded Inc to create a cost-effective solution.

Rodeo IoT was used to quickly develop an RFID scanner to detect and track equipment and materials used on job sites. They did not have to craft a custom solution and procure parts on their own. Simply Embedded took care of it from beginning to end, turning around a solid and effective solution that the site personnel were able to start using on site right away.

The result was less material losses, and more on-time completion. This ensured better profitability and customer satisfaction.

It is an elegantly simple solution, and it solved the problem at a remarkably low price. By using Rodeo, we eliminated the need to create a solution from scratch. The entire working system was developed and implemented much faster and at about one-third the cost of building a custom prototype from scratch.
